The AEA has opportunities for internships and volunteer positions throughout the year, that include the following:

Internships:

1. Communications & Outreach Intern: The Communications and Outreach Intern is responsible for meeting with the Afghan Seniors in our program and documenting their life stories. This project will serve to expand our outreach and advocacy efforts and help raise awareness about the past hardships and present difficulties that many Afghan refugees face in the Bay Area. Qualifications for this position include prior experience in writing, journalism, or communications.

2. Development Intern: The Development Intern is responsible for assisting the association with fundraising during our annual Mother's Day Event. This position is available from the beginning of January to the beginning of May. Qualifications include prior experience with fundraising and development.

3. Publicity and Marketing Intern: The Publicity and Marketing Intern is responsible for assisting the association prior to our annual Mother's Day Event in May by means of publicizing the event to surrounding communities in the Bay Area as well as assisting staff in creating publicity materials. Qualifications for this position include previous marketing and publicity experience.

Volunteer Opportunities: 

Arts Project Instructor: We would like to find a volunteer skilled in art and teaching to facilitate monthly arts activities with ~50-70 senior Afghan women. The art activities would take place on Wednesdays at the Healthy Aging Program and a translator will be provided if necessary.

**Prospective interns/volunteers must have a cultural understanding of the Afghan community as well as fluency in Farsi or Pashtu unless otherwise stated. All internship/volunteer positions are unpaid.
